Billed as America's spacious compact car when this, this Valiant is a great combination of originality and restoration, this '63 Plymouth Valiant Signet 200 two door hardtop is finished in White with Red Vinyl interior. The hardtop edition was new for '63 and was the sportiest design available. Signet bucket seats are individually adjustable. This car features manual three speed on the column. The V-8 engine in this Plymouth Valiant runs very nice and the transmission shifts correctly. The car, floor, trunk and under-body appears very solid with the following exceptions: there is a rust showing on the left rear quarter panel as well as behind the left front wheel. There is rust through patches in the front floor on both right and left sides where the floor meets the firewall. This car has been repainted at some point and the paint has now dulled.
The Signet model came with front bucket seats, and styled wheel covers, along with a lower body-side molding between the wheel wells and on the rear quarter, and Signet medallions. The seats front and rear are in very good original condition. The headliner looks good but is separating at one seam, the carpet is worn in the front. The outer–stainless and chrome body trim, front grille and hubcaps are still in very nice bright condition. The few exceptions are on left end of the rear bumper, around two bolt holes on the front bumper and the trim around the rear glass.
The instruments work properly and the dash appearance is good. There is an aftermarket amplifier mounted in the trunk with (aftermarket speakers) that is wired to an external plug that can be used with an Ipod or MP3 player. The steering components look fairly new as do the shock absorbers. The tires are in reasonable condition with tread depth ranging from 5/32nds to 9/32nds. It runs and drives very nicely. The right rear axle bearing will need be replaced and the rear brakes should be replaced at that time.
Overall, this is a nice collector Plymouth Valiant with a lot of life left in it and would make a fun driver, or cruiser for cars shows and cruise-ins.
