1966 Plymouth Valiant Signet

Own a cool ‘60s convertible and enjoy some open air motoring behind the wheel of this 1966 Plymouth Valiant Signet, offered for sale by Blue Marlin Motors!

This car would be the perfect candidate for a reliable classic daily driver. It shows just over 87,000 original miles on the odometer, but you’d never know it. Turn the key, and the 235 horsepower Commander V8 fires up with the sound of the distinctive Chrysler starter and idles smoothly. Recently, the car has had new rear shocks, rear brakes, a fuel pump, starter, alternator, and a few other bits. The car has been gone through, so all you have to do is turn the key and drive. The engine, transmission, and carburetor have all been rebuilt, and have less than a thousand miles on them since the rebuilds. What more could you ask for?

The red vinyl interior is in great shape for its age, and is all original. There have been a few gauges added to the dashboard to monitor vital signs like oil pressure and engine speed, and a cassette player was added to the dash – but the original radio can go with the car if the buyer wishes.

The car was equipped with factory air conditioning, but the parts have been removed. They, too, can be included in the purchase of the car and replaced. There is a new black soft top for the power convertible roof, and a nice set of Cragar S/S wheels that give the car a sporty appearance. The paint appears to be original, and while it isn’t showroom perfect, would make a very nice five footer, or a nice car to draw attention at local car shows and cruise ins. It’s a driver that still has its original license plate and has spent its entire life in Florida.

Underneath, the body and frame are rock solid and show no signs of rot. The rocker panels, quarters, frame rails, and floor pans are in great shape. This would make a great candidate for restoration, or be perfect to drive as it sits. The choice is yours.

Which will you decide? Give us a call or come see it in person here in sunny Stuart, Florida. Remember – Blue Marlin Motors can finance classic cars! Call to learn more.

1966 Plymouth Valiant - $19,995 - Atlanta, GA - Lightweight sleepers aren't anything new but in a sea of Novas and Falcons this 1966 Plymouth Valiant stands out. It nails the low-key look you need for a sleeper and backs it with a 360 cubic inch V8 that makes this unassuming 2-door more than a match for much more potent machinery. Repainted less than two years ago this 2-door Valiant has seemingly led a good life. Survival rates on these cars is quite low and while they were popular back in the day not many achieved collector status and as a result they were used up and thrown away. Somehow this one survived and got rejuvenated in a big way because the black paint looks extremely good. There are a few scratches and nicks here and there which are unavoidable with black paint but the clean bodywork shines throughout. It's got a few custom tricks that make it look even more sinister starting with some painted trim a general d-chroming and an industrial-strength look that's usually reserved for this car's bigger brothers. Fit and finish are particularly good for a car at this price point and despite the big horsepower living inside it doesn't have that loose feeling that abused cars often demonstrate. Chrome bumpers sparkle against the black paint adding just the right look to reinforce the sleeper profile. The light-colored interior is a great contrast to the inky black paint on the outside and helps add to the car's unassuming demeanor. The gray fabric seat covers trimmed in matching vinyl have a very 1960s vibe to them and the matching door panels look correct for the Valiant. Bench seats are always a big help with the sleeper look and this little Valiant packs one of the neatest instrument panels of the period with a squared-off speedometer on the left and auxiliary gauges on the right. The factory AM radio is long gone replaced by an AM/FM/cassette head unit that fits in the dash like it belongs there. And as a practical Valiant there's even a good-sized trunk in back which has been fitted with a reproduction plaid mat and still carries its original jack assembly tucked into the side panel. OK don't worry we're getting to the important stuff. Pop the hood and you'll find a sturdy 360 cubic inch V8 with a factory look. There's a chrome air cleaner up top but the Hemi Orange paint on the block and valve covers gives it a very OEM appearance that belies its mission. They even went so far as to paint the new oversized radiator satin black to help it blend in. There's a ton of new equipment throughout the car including new belts wires and hoses plus fresh brake lines and a cackling dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. There's a 2800 RPM stall torque converter in the 3-speed automatic transmission and easy-going 2.76 gears out back because you don't need a lot of gear to get a lightweight like this one rolling. Clean floors a new gas tank and a set of factory-style Rallye wheels round out a capable chassis that doesn't mind the extra horsepower churning through it. Fat 225/70/15 radials are the lone external tip-off that there might be more to this car than meets the eye. This car comes with more than $14000 in receipts and that doesn't even include the paint and labor so it represents a screaming bargain. If you like the low-profile look you're going to love the way it drives. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom. 1971 Plymouth Valiant 1971 Plymouth Valiant

1971 Plymouth Valiant - $13,995 - Atlanta, GA - In 1971 the government and insurance companies were busy driving the last nail into the muscle car's coffin but Chrysler stuck to a classic formula of big engine and small car to keep performance levels entertaining. This particular 1971 Plymouth Valiant Scamp however isn't some smog-strangled stocker but a warmed-over hot rod that speaks relatively softly and carries a big stick. The color is exactly right for a car like this not too flashy and subtle enough not to be noticed. It ideally captures the spirit of the times and stands out today for those of us who like a bit of nostalgia with our old cars. And while the Valiant was technically an economy car this one has had a bunch of time spent getting it into shape both externally and under the hood. For a '71 Valiant this one must have been pretty clean to begin with which is a rare thing all on its own. It was repainted just last year and the finish has a deep shine that shows well and it wasn't over-restored to perfection but rather cleaned up and sprayed to give it a no-worries look that's appealing. The doors fit well the quarters are smooth and there's a gold undertone to the paint that only comes out when the light is just right. The chrome and trim is probably original and looking its age with some light pitting on the bumpers but again as a low-dollar machine this one has a lot going for it. The basic theme continues inside with a new black bench seat interior complete with new carpets and door panels. Sure the carpets might be a little more plush than original but nobody complains about an upgrade and even as a value-priced entry this Valiant comes complete with a full array of informative gauges from the factory. The woodgrained applique on the instrument panel is a bit scuffed and scratched but other than that the interior is in very good condition and we've always liked Chrysler's 3-spoke steering wheel with this one wearing a leather wrap. There is no radio but that only means it's ready for the head unit of your choice and the rest is street-racer basic: crank windows column shifter and only a heater and defroster. The trunk is surprisingly large for a compact car like this and carries a brand new mat. Going fast on a budget was its motto then and it still holds true today offering a ton of bang for the buck. A 318 cubic inch V8 is a welcome sight under the Valiant's hood and this isn't some stock wheezer. Upgraded with a big Holley 4-barrel and aluminum intake a big cam inside and a set of factory HP exhaust manifolds it's got a big hit of torque at any speed. Supporting equipment includes a big radiator a fresh battery and a fresh dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers polished oval tips peeking out under the rear bumper. A few chrome dress-up parts make it look suitably sporty and the painted engine bay shows that the car was comprehensively disassembled for paint. It still carries a 3-speed automatic with a fresh torque converter as well as the original rear end and there's also a new gas tank hanging out back front disc brakes and air shocks in back. 14-inch Rallye wheels offer a classic performance look and wear fat 245/60/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials. This neat little car is the perfect sleeper with V8 power in an unassuming package. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom. For more information please call (678) 279-1609 or toll free (877) 367-1835.
